1. What we collect
- Account data — your email address, optional display name, and a securely hashed password.
- Your creative work — projects, manuscripts, outlines, characters, style guides, covers, and related material you create in the app.
- Usage data — which AI operations you run and their approximate processing cost, used to operate and improve the service.
We do not collect payment information. We do not use advertising trackers.
2. How your content is processed
To generate text, images, audio, and research, portions of your content are sent to third-party AI providers acting as processors on your behalf:
- Anthropic, OpenAI, and xAI — text and image generation
- Firecrawl — market research web searches (your manuscripts are never sent here)
- Resend — transactional email (account and password emails only)
- Railway — application hosting and databases
We only share what is needed to perform the operation you requested. We do not sell your data or your writing to anyone, ever.
3. Cookies
Quillfire uses a single session cookie to keep you signed in. There are no third-party or advertising cookies.
4. Retention and deletion
Your data is kept while your account is active so your projects remain available to you. Deleting a project removes its content from the live database. You may request full deletion of your account and all associated data at any time from within the app, and we will action it promptly.
5. Your rights
You can access and export your work at any time using the built-in export tools. You may request a copy of, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. If you are in a jurisdiction with specific data-protection rights (such as the GDPR or CCPA), we honour those rights.
6. Security
Passwords are stored using industry-standard hashing (bcrypt). Data in transit is encrypted with HTTPS. Access to stored files requires an authenticated session. No system is perfectly secure — please use a strong, unique password.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time; the “Last updated” date above will reflect the current version.
